We all know someone who's always there for everybody else.
The friend who checks in on everyone. The parent juggling a hundred things. The person caring for someone they love, keeping everything going and somehow finding time to ask how you're doing.
But what do you buy someone who rarely has a moment for themselves?
Flowers are lovely. Chocolates are always welcome. But sometimes you want to give something that says a little more than thank you.
Something that says, I see you. I'm thinking of you. And you deserve a little time for yourself, too.

When you want to give something more thoughtful than flowers
There are occasions when finding the right gift feels especially difficult.
Perhaps someone is recovering from illness, adjusting to life with a new baby, going through a bereavement or caring for a family member.
You want to do something kind, but you're not quite sure what would help.
And sometimes the answer isn't a grand gesture.
It's a comforting supper that takes minutes to prepare. A candle they can light at the end of a long day. A little chocolate saved for when the house finally goes quiet.
Small things, perhaps. But thoughtful ones.
Little gifts that encourage someone to slow down
You don't need to spend a fortune to let someone know you're thinking of them.
At Peak & The Pantry, we love gifts that turn an ordinary moment into something worth enjoying.
A really good chocolate bar
Sometimes sitting down with a cup of tea and a square of good chocolate is enough. UP-UP Chocolate is a lovely little treat to include in a care package or give just because.
A comforting, easy supper
Saucerer Mushroom & Truffle Pesto makes a delicious meal feel effortless. Simply stir it through hot pasta, perhaps with a little parmesan, and dinner is done.
Something to make home feel special
Our Peak & The Pantry Happy Hour Candle is a reminder to make room for a moment of your own. Not just for celebrations or when people come over, but for an ordinary Tuesday evening.
A few favourite nibbles
Good crisps, something to drink and permission to sit down for a while. Sometimes that's all you need.
The story behind Permission to Pause
This particular gift box is very personal to me.
I spent years caring for my grandparents, and one thing people often said was, "Don't forget to look after yourself."
They meant well.
But when you're caring for someone you love, there's always something else that needs doing. Another appointment, another meal, another job on the list.
And even when you do find a few minutes, it can be difficult to switch off.
That's where the idea for Permission to Pause began.
I wanted to create something for the people who are always looking after everyone else. Something that takes away one small decision and reminds them that their time matters too.
Not another thing to organise. Not another task.
Just a little comfort, thoughtfully put together.

A thoughtful gift for carers, new parents and anyone having a difficult time
One of the things I've learnt is that you don't always know what someone else is carrying.
They might be looking after an elderly parent, supporting a partner, finding their feet as a new mum or simply having a particularly difficult few months.
Permission to Pause was inspired by unpaid carers, but it isn't exclusively for carers.
It's a gift for anyone who could do with one less decision and a little more kindness in their day.
For birthdays, Christmas, a get-well-soon gesture, a thank-you or simply because you're thinking of them.
Supporting unpaid carers
This gift box also has another purpose close to my heart.
We're committing £1 from every Permission to Pause Gift Box sold to support unpaid carers through a charity partner.
Because while a gift box can't change the responsibilities someone carries, perhaps it can make one evening a little easier.
And help start a conversation about the millions of people who quietly care for others every day.
Sometimes the best gift is permission to stop
We spend so much time looking for the perfect present.
But perhaps the most meaningful gifts aren't always the biggest or most expensive.
Sometimes it's a comforting meal. Twenty minutes with a candle burning. A little chocolate. Or a letter that reminds someone they're appreciated.
If you're looking for something more thoughtful than flowers, our Permission to Pause Thinking of You Gift Box is £49.95, including UK delivery.
Beautifully presented and ready to send directly to someone who deserves a little kindness.
